Jeanie Johnston will be docked in Boston, Massachussetts, from Thursday, 24th July, after sailing from Providence, Rhode Island. The ship will be open for tours at two separate locations, please see details below.

Dates the ship is open to visitors and locations:

  • Friday 25th to Tuesday 29th July - Rowes Wharf at the Boston Harbor Hotel
  • Wednesday 30th - Sunday 3rd August - Fan Pier, Boston City
    Open to visitors - 10.30a.m till 6.30p.m daily

    Details of Jeanie's arrival

  • On July 24th there will be a private arrival ceremony scheduled for 11.00a.m, honoured guests will include Mayor Menino and representatives from the Irish Consulate.

    Mr. Joe Leary, President, Irish American Partnership, Boston with Dr. Henry Lyons, Chairman, Jeanie Johnston Company, 1995-2001 at Rowes Wharf. Dr.Lyons and John Griffin were honored by the IAP at a special function for "their courage and farsightedness" in building the Jeanie Johnston. The IAP also saluted the new board and Capt Tom McCarthy "whose abilities and seamanship guided the Jeanie Johnston to America".

    Jeanie berthed in Boston with the Congressman Joseph Moakley Court House in the background. Congressman Moakley was a strong advocate of Irish and American relations and worked hard on helping with the Peace Plan for Northern Ireland.
